Funding for Rescuers

Funding is available through the trust for individuals and groups who assume direct responsibility for rescuing individual Briards.

The trust provides two types of funding. Firstly, we offer funding to individuals for the rescue of individual dogs. Requirements for this type of funding include completing our individual dog grant application and meeting the following criteria:

  • A written history of the dog and the name of breeder and owner if known
  • Original bills from the veterinarian
  • Microchip number and where the number is listed
  • Proof of spay or neuter
  • Information regarding the final placement of dog

Secondly, the BCA Rescue Trust also provides grants to organizations involved in the rescue and kenneling of Briards. The annual grant program is intended to streamline the funding process for organizations that are involved in numerous Briard rescues where the individual grant application may become cumbersome.

To receive funding please complete this grant application and send via email to one of the Trustees listed on the "About Us" page.

The Trust has established the following guidelines for those involved in rescue to protect the people involved in the rescue, the Trust, and the Briards in need. Rescue operations:

  • Shall agree to due diligence in attempting to locate the owners and the breeders of all rescue dogs.
  • Shall agree to take the rescue dog back at any time during the life of the dog.
  • Shall maintain written records of every step of the rescue procedure.
  • Shall not place any Briards known to be dangerous or aggressive.
  • Shall spay or neuter dogs before placement.
  • Shall know and abide by applicable local and state laws.
